8-piece collective formed by bandleader and organist Ellis Howell to achieve a vision of blues, grooves and soul. Performing original arrangements and covers written for the band from eclectic inspirations including Billy Preston, Hall & Oates, Leon Bridges and Paolo Nutini, Howell’s Grooving Castle reinvent some well-known 70s classics to a more funky laid-back vibe.

Featuring the incredible Amy Winehouse/Emma Nissen influenced vocal and songwriting talents of Alice Maffs, the band includes: guitarist Joe Tzabar (Beyond the Blue), drummer George Milnes (Five ‘til Seven, Sungrass), bassist Joe Kooreman (Trick Stack), trumpeter/flugelhorn Alys Kemmitt, trombonist Alice Cleak and tenor saxophonist Tom Leaverland. This stacked ensemble of veterans in the Bristol jazz scene come together to ensure this project is not one to miss.
