Independent / Gloucester Road / Since 2012
Our story.
The Gallimaufry — The Galli to friends — is an independent bar, kitchen, music venue and arts space in the heart of Gloucester Road…
How The Gallimaufry started.
Opening in 2012 with limited budget but heaps of enthusiasm and following in the footsteps of our predecessors ‘The Prom’, we begged, borrowed and stole to kit the place out in our eclectic and quirky style!
The Gallimaufry was born, meaning a hodgepodge of things ‘making the best of what is available’ our mission was to bring people together through great music, good food, proper drinks and a healthy dose of creativity.
We’re all proud to be part of Bristol’s independent spirit, supporting local artists, musicians, makers and suppliers wherever we can.

How do we look?
Our walls can talk and they tell a story of a number of amazing artists, signwriters and muralists we are lucky to have called friends over the years. Look out for works by Dave Bain, Dapper Signs, Hana Sunny, Lucie Smailes, Mr Mead, Josh Owen, Ged Palmer, and of course the iconic ceiling by Max Malone.
Live music
We support grassroots music and the amazing community of musicians that call Bristol home. Acts such as Waldos Gift, Grove, Snazzback, tlk, MĀDŁY and even George Ezra have found their feet on our stage over the years.
Neo soul, jazz, hip hop, folk, jams, open mics and more: With free entry every night, it’s the perfect place to find your new favourite band.
